'Red and Grey' is a group of musical friends who play covers music for charitable organisations and other good causes.
The original the line-up was: Elizabeth Medhurst, (lead vocals), Colin Chamberlain, (lead guitar), Simon Lutter (backing vocals, rhythm guitar and bass) and Robin Cooper (drums). From the group’s original members only Robin remains.
Over the years evolution and technical development has taken place within the band, both musically and through line-up changes. However the original concept of raising funds for charities remains the same. Our aim is to entertain with great music and to support or fundraise for good causes.
Sadly Colin died of cancer following a brief illness just after leaving the band, but we had already decided that Cancer Research UK would be our main focus for fundraising. However, we have also always been available to play for other good causes and these have included M.S. and Breast Cancer charities.
Our current line up, from left to right, is Kevin Cobie on bass guitar, Nicky Sena-Cullen on lead vocals, Dr. John Carter on lead guitar, Robin Cooper on drums and Sue Arnaboldi on harmony vocals
So, how did Red and Grey come to be so named? Simple! All the original members had greying hair apart from Elizabeth who had red hair.
We play rock and pop from the sixties to the present day. We have a large repertoire of songs and we're happy to tailor the playlist to suit your event.
We’ve donated well over £15,000 to our principal charity, Cancer Research UK however we also perform free at fund raising events for other charities. We ask only for a meal and a couple of drinks in return. We rarely ask for expenses, but if we have to travel more than 50 miles from our homes, we may have to charge a small amount to cover fuel costs.
The band supplies all its own musical instruments, public address equipment and lighting gear and is willing to travel anywhere to play, even abroad, indoors or out. We have a Public Liability Insurance policy sufficient to cover any of our concerts.
We’ve played at Silverstone, Essen railway museum in Germany, a rowing club in Wales and open-air gigs and fetes, and pubs in various counties in the UK – there are no boundaries as long as we can fit performances in with our ‘day-jobs’.
